*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Roman, a small city in north‑eastern Romania (Roman in Romanian), lies near a number of small lakes and the Moldova River, where recreational swimming is mainly a seasonal activity. Surface water temperatures in local lakes typically rise from about 8–16 °C (46–61 °F) in spring (April–May) to 20–26 °C (68–79 °F) in summer (June–August), with peak shallow‑water spots occasionally reaching 24–28 °C (75–82 °F) on hot weeks. In early autumn (September–October) temperatures commonly fall to 12–18 °C (54–64 °F), and in winter lakes often approach freezing, 0–4 °C (32–39 °F), with ice cover possible during cold spells.
Swimming is generally possible and most comfortable in the warm summer months when surface temperatures exceed about 20 °C (68 °F), but whether you can swim legally or safely depends on local provisions. Official bathing areas, water quality monitoring, lifeguards and posted rules are not universal around Roman’s lakes, so many people swim informally where access permits. Cold spring and autumn waters are chilly and can pose hypothermia risk, and winter swimming is unsafe except for experienced, well‑prepared winter swimmers where conditions and local regulations allow. Always check local water quality and safety notices before entering.
