** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Rîbniţa sits on a reservoir of the Dniester River, and its lake-like reservoir shows a strong seasonal temperature cycle typical of inland waters in a temperate continental climate. In winter the surface commonly hovers around 0–2 °C (32–36 °F) and can freeze over in cold spells. Spring warming brings surface temperatures roughly into the 4–12 °C range (39–54 °F) as ice melts and inflows remain cool. By summer the shallow bays and near-shore water often warm to about 18–26 °C (64–79 °F), while deeper or more open sections remain a few degrees cooler. In autumn surface temperatures fall back toward 8–16 °C (46–61 °F) before winter cooling resumes. Local factors such as depth, shelter from wind, and inflow of river water create considerable variation across the reservoir.
Swimming is practiced locally in warmer months, but it is not universally regulated or uniformly advisable. There are informal bathing spots where summer temperatures can be comfortable for swimmers, yet official access may be limited near dams, boat channels or industrial discharge points. Water quality and safety (absence of lifeguards, changing currents, pollution risks related to nearby industrial activity) are the main reasons some areas are discouraged or restricted. Visitors should follow local signage and authorities’ guidance; comfortable, low-risk recreational swimming is most likely when surface temperatures reach the higher summer range and when designated, supervised areas are available.
