The Velyka Vys River, flowing through the Kirovohrad region of central Ukraine, is a relatively small and calm watercourse. Because of its modest size, the river warms up quite quickly during the summer months. In spring, the water is usually cool, around 11–14°C, but by July and August shallow sections can reach 22–24°C. This makes it suitable for bathing on hot days, especially in areas where the current is gentle and the banks are open.
Swimming in the Velyka Vys is possible mainly in calm stretches near villages and accessible banks. The river is not very deep, so it is more comfortable for short swims, wading, or simply cooling off rather than long-distance swimming. Locals often use it for relaxation in summer, enjoying its natural setting and refreshing water.
