Location & Local Information
The Vilshanka River in central Ukraine is a relatively small waterway that flows through the steppe landscape and joins the Tiasmyn. Its water temperature varies significantly with the seasons: in early spring it remains rather cool, often below 15°C, while in the height of summer it can warm up to 22–25°C in shallow sections. Because of its modest size, the river warms faster than larger rivers, which makes it appealing for a refreshing dip on hot days.
Swimming in the Vilshanka is possible in certain calm stretches, especially near villages and open banks where access is easier. However, being a small river, it is not always deep enough for long swims, and in dry periods the water level can drop, limiting bathing opportunities. Still, locals often use it for cooling off in the summer, especially children and those living close to the river.
