The Tsibritsa River (Цибрица) in Bulgaria experiences marked seasonal changes in water temperature driven by flow, shading and local climate. In winter the water is often close to freezing, typically around 0–4 °C (32–39 °F). Spring temperatures commonly rise to roughly 6–14 °C (43–57 °F) as snowmelt and rains increase flow. During summer the shallow, slower stretches can warm substantially, with typical surface temperatures between 18–26 °C (64–79 °F), though small pools in warm years may reach slightly higher values. In autumn the river cools again, commonly ranging from 8–16 °C (46–61 °F) as air temperatures drop and flows stabilise.
Swimming in the Tsibritsa is possible in summer months where the current is mild and depths are suitable, but there are few if any formal, supervised bathing sites and local regulations or land ownership can affect access. Water quality and safety vary along the course; after heavy rain the river can become turbid and faster-flowing, and some stretches may be rocky or have underwater hazards. For these reasons locals and visitors usually swim only in calmer pools during warm weather, and should check local signs, recent conditions and any municipal guidance before entering the water.
