** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

The Ogosta River in northwestern Bulgaria (Огоста) is a medium‑sized tributary of the Danube whose water temperature varies a lot with season, flow and local depth. In winter the river is cold, often around 0–4 °C (32–39 °F) in open stretches, while spring snowmelt and higher discharges keep temperatures low, roughly 4–12 °C (39–54 °F). By summer, shallower and slower pools can warm to about 18–25 °C (64–77 °F), occasionally reaching the upper twenties (about 26–28 °C, 79–82 °F) in heat waves. In autumn temperatures usually fall back to the 10–16 °C range (50–61 °F) as air temperatures cool and flows increase.
Swimming in the Ogosta is possible in many calm, shallow sections during the warmest months, but it is neither uniformly recommended nor universally permitted. Authorities may close or advise against bathing in places affected by higher currents during spring floods, variable depths, or localized pollution from historical mining and agricultural runoff; reservoirs and intake zones often have explicit restrictions. Anyone choosing to swim should follow local signage, avoid swift or deep stretches, be aware of water‑quality notices and take ordinary precautions against cold shock and underwater hazards.
