** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Balaguer is a town in Catalonia on the banks of the Segre river, surrounded by several reservoirs and embassaments that function as local “lakes.” Water temperatures in these bodies vary with the seasons: in summer (June–August) surface temperatures typically range from about 20–26 °C (68–79 °F), and in particularly hot spells can rise toward 27–28 °C (81–82 °F). Spring (March–May) waters usually sit around 12–18 °C (54–64 °F), autumn (September–November) about 15–20 °C (59–68 °F), and winter (December–February) commonly drops to roughly 6–12 °C (43–54 °F). Depth, flow from the Segre and recent weather patterns all influence these values, so local conditions can shift from year to year.
Swimming is generally possible in Balaguer’s river and reservoir areas but only in designated spots where water quality and safety are deemed acceptable; some zones near dams, intake structures or private banks are off-limits. Local authorities may post temporary bans for reasons such as high bacterial counts, visible algal blooms, low water levels or dangerous currents. In summer popular swimming areas are used for recreation and often monitored, whereas in cooler months the low temperatures and potential for cold-water shock make swimming inadvisable. Always follow on-site signage and municipal guidance before entering the water.
