** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

The Río Manzanares flows through Madrid and its water temperature varies substantially with the seasons because the river is shallow and influenced by local weather and upstream reservoirs. In winter the water commonly ranges from about 4–9 °C (39–48 °F), spring temperatures typically climb to roughly 10–15 °C (50–59 °F), summer can warm the river to approximately 18–24 °C (64–75 °F), and autumn usually sees a decline to about 10–16 °C (50–61 °F). These figures are approximate averages for the urban stretch and can change after heavy rain, prolonged drought or cold snaps; shallow sections warm and cool faster than deeper pools or reservoir-fed reaches.
Swimming in the central sections of the Río Manzanares is generally not permitted or is actively discouraged by local authorities for several reasons. Water quality in an urban river can be variable, with occasional contamination spikes, and there are safety concerns such as fluctuating currents, submerged debris and infrastructure, and limited lifeguard coverage. While there are regulated bathing reservoirs and recreational lakes in the Madrid region where monitored swimming is allowed under set conditions, the urban Manzanares itself is typically subject to restrictions and advisories intended to protect public health and safety.
