** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

The Louros River (Λούρος) in Epirus typically has cool, variable water temperatures that reflect its mountain-fed sources and seasonal flow. In winter the river is cold, often between about 6 and 12 °C (43–54 °F), while spring brings a gradual rise to roughly 10–16 °C (50–61 °F) as snowmelt and rains increase flow. Summer temperatures are most comfortable for bathing in lower, slower stretches and can reach approximately 18–25 °C (64–77 °F), though faster, shaded or higher-altitude reaches often remain several degrees cooler. In autumn the water usually falls back into the mid range, around 12–18 °C (54–64 °F). Surface values vary with depth, shading and recent rainfall, so local spots can be noticeably warmer or colder than the averages.
Swimming is commonly possible in many parts of the Louros, especially during the warmest months when temperatures are suitable for recreational bathing. Whether swimming is advisable depends on location-specific factors: currents and undercut banks can be strong in narrower or faster sections, submerged rocks and sudden depth changes present hazards, and water quality can vary after heavy rains or near agricultural areas. Local signage, seasonal flow conditions and basic safety precautions should be checked before entering the river.
