** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

The Río Arlanzón in Castile and León has a typical temperate mountain-fed regime, so its water temperature changes notably through the year. In winter the river commonly ranges from about 4–8 °C (39–46 °F), with cold runoff after rains and snowmelt keeping temperatures low. Spring temperatures usually rise to roughly 8–14 °C (46–57 °F) as air warmth and increased discharge moderate extremes. In summer the warmest stretches can reach approximately 16–22 °C (61–72 °F) in slower pools and backwaters, while faster channels stay cooler. During autumn the river cools again to around 10–16 °C (50–61 °F) as daylight shortens and rainfall patterns change.
Swimming in the Río Arlanzón is possible in some rural or calm reaches but is not widespread or universally permitted. Within Burgos and other urbanized zones the river has engineered banks, weirs and variable water quality, and local regulations or posted signs can prohibit bathing for safety and health reasons. Even where swimming is allowed, cold temperatures outside mid-summer, variable flow, underwater obstacles and occasional contamination after heavy rains make caution advisable. Visitors should check local guidance, observe signage, and avoid swimming in fast currents or immediately downstream of storm drains or wastewater outlets.
