** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

The Río Arlanza in Castile and León shows clear seasonal variation in water temperature driven by rainfall, snowmelt and river morphology. In winter the river is cold, commonly around 2–6 °C (36–43 °F), while spring temperatures typically rise to roughly 8–14 °C (46–57 °F) as flows moderate. During the warmest weeks of summer surface temperatures in sheltered pools and slower reaches often reach 16–24 °C (61–75 °F), occasionally a little higher in very shallow, sun‑exposed spots. In autumn the river cools again to about 10–16 °C (50–61 °F). Local conditions such as depth, shading, recent rains and upstream releases can produce substantial short‑term fluctuations from these general ranges.
Swimming in the Río Arlanza is possible in many places, particularly in summer when temperatures are most comfortable, but it is not uniformly regulated as formal bathing areas along the whole course. Some stretches are used by locals for bathing when flows are low and water quality appears good, while other sections are unsuitable due to strong currents, submerged rocks, cold springs or protections for water supplies and ecosystems. Because monitoring and lifeguard services are limited, authorities or landowners may prohibit access at specific sites; therefore it is advisable to check local signage, water quality and flow conditions before entering and to avoid risky or restricted sections.
