*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Västra Silen is a medium-sized lake in Värmland County, Sweden, known for clear water and forested shorelines. Seasonal surface temperatures vary noticeably: in spring (April–May) the water typically ranges from about 2–10 °C (36–50 °F) as ice melts and warming begins. Summer (June–August) brings the warmest conditions, with surface temperatures most commonly between 15–22 °C (59–72 °F) on warm days and in shallow bays, though cooler conditions can persist in deeper or shaded areas. In early autumn (September–October) the surface cools to roughly 8–14 °C (46–57 °F). During winter the surface is at or near freezing, about 0 °C (32 °F) when ice is present, while deeper water may remain closer to 4 °C (39 °F).
Swimming in Västra Silen is generally allowed and commonly practiced in summer because Swedish access rules and the lake’s typical water quality support recreational use. Public bathing is most popular when surface temperatures reach the mid-to-high teens Celsius, which feels comfortable for many swimmers. Visitors should still exercise caution: cold-water shock can occur in early and late season, depth and sudden drop-offs vary, and boat traffic or ice conditions in spring and autumn may create hazards. Local conditions and posted guidance should be checked before entering the water.
