*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Järnsjön in Värmland County typically follows the seasonal pattern of temperate Swedish lakes. In spring the surface temperature often climbs from near freezing to about 4–10 °C (39–50 °F) as ice melts, while early summer sees 12–20 °C (54–68 °F). Peak summer conditions in July and August can bring surface layers to roughly 18–22 °C (64–72 °F), occasionally reaching around 24 °C (75 °F) during warm spells. Autumn cooling returns temperatures to around 10–15 °C (50–59 °F) in September and down toward 4–6 °C (39–43 °F) by late autumn. In winter the lake commonly freezes and open water temperatures are close to 0–4 °C (32–39 °F) beneath the ice.
Swimming in Järnsjön is generally allowed under Swedish public access rights and many people swim from shores or small beaches when conditions are safe. In summer the water is comfortable for most swimmers, but visitors should be mindful that Swedish lakes can have sudden depth changes, cold currents, and no lifeguards at informal spots. In spring and autumn colder temperatures increase the risk of cold-water shock, and in winter swimming is only for experienced ice swimmers using proper safety measures. Observing local signs, checking water quality, and using flotation or company when swimming improves safety.
