*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Uljua Reservoir (Uljuan tekojärvi) is a significant artificial lake in the Siikalatva municipality of North Ostrobothnia. As with all major water bodies in Finland, swimming is legally permitted along its accessible shores, in accordance with the national Everyman’s Rights. However, due to its function as a reservoir and its fluctuating water levels, caution is strongly advised when swimming outside of official, maintained bathing spots. The water quality is generally suitable for swimming during the season.
The reservoir’s northern location means its water temperature is seasonal and generally cool. The water body is typically frozen over during the long winter months, from approximately November to May, with the water below the ice remaining at a consistent and very cold temperature, between 0∘C and 4∘C. The most comfortable period for surface swimming is brief, limited mainly to July, when the surface temperature can rise to an approximate range of 18∘C to 22∘C in shallow bays. Outside of this summer peak, the water quickly becomes too cold for casual recreation, appealing only to dedicated cold-water enthusiasts.
