Swimming in such conditions is perfect for those seeking relaxation and comfort in the water. These waters are often preferred for relaxation in hot weather, as the water temperature does not cool the body significantly. ** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Tsala Apopka Lake, part of the larger Tsala Apopka chain in west-central Florida, is a relatively shallow freshwater system, so its surface temperature responds quickly to seasonal changes. In winter months the water commonly cools into the mid-50s to mid-60s °F (about 13–18 °C). Spring sees a steady rise into the mid-60s to mid-70s °F (18–24 °C). In summer the surface often warms to the low-to-upper 80s °F and can reach the low 90s °F on hot spells (roughly 27–33 °C), while autumn temperatures typically fall back into the 70s °F range (21–27 °C). Local conditions such as depth, shade, and inflows can produce variation from these general ranges.
Swimming is possible in many parts of the Tsala Apopka system, but it is not widely promoted as a formal recreational swim area with lifeguards or developed beaches. As with many Florida lakes, visitors should be mindful of submerged vegetation and muck, occasional algal blooms, and the presence of wildlife such as alligators, which can make unsupervised swimming risky. Where parks or boat ramps provide public access, people often wade or swim, but it’s advisable to use designated, maintained sites when available and to heed any local water-quality or safety advisories.
