** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Lake Yale, a freshwater lake in central Florida, typically has warm surface waters for much of the year. In summer months surface temperatures commonly rise into the 80s to low 90s °F (about 27–33 °C). Spring and fall usually see milder readings in the 70s to low 80s °F (around 21–28 °C), while winter surface temperatures often cool to roughly the mid‑50s to high‑60s °F (about 13–20 °C), with occasional brief drops into the low 50s °F (near 10–12 °C) during cold snaps. Surface values change more rapidly than deeper water; shallower areas warm and cool faster, while deeper zones remain cooler year‑round. Wind, cloud cover and recent rainfall further influence short‑term variation.
Swimming in Lake Yale is commonly practiced because it is a natural recreational lake, but whether you can swim in a given spot depends on access, local rules and current conditions. Some shoreline is privately owned and public access is limited to designated points, and there may not be lifeguards. Water quality advisories, algal blooms, dense vegetation, boat traffic and the presence of wildlife can intermittently restrict safe swimming, so local signage and county health notices should be checked before entering the water.
