*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Gåxsjön in Jämtland County is a typical Swedish forest lake with distinctly seasonal water temperatures. In spring (April–June) the surface usually rises from near freezing to about 0–8 °C (32–46 °F) as ice breaks up and meltwater cools the basin. Summer (June–August) brings the warmest conditions, with surface temperatures commonly ranging from about 12–20 °C (54–68 °F) and occasionally reaching 20–22 °C (68–72 °F) in sheltered bays on warm, calm days. In autumn the water cools again to roughly 4–12 °C (39–54 °F), and in winter the lake is often ice-covered with liquid water at or just above 0 °C (32 °F) beneath the ice.
Swimming in Gåxsjön is generally permitted and is a normal recreational activity during the warmer months under Sweden’s right of public access (allemansrätten), provided no local restrictions apply. Many people swim there in July and August when temperatures are most comfortable, but conditions vary with weather, depth and inflows, so water can remain chilly. Visitors should be mindful of cold-water shock, changing weather, limited lifeguard services, and any posted signs or private property boundaries before entering the water.
