*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Six Mile Lake, located in the Muskoka region of central Ontario, is a scenic freshwater lake surrounded by rocky shorelines, forests, and cottages. Its water temperature varies throughout the year depending on seasonal weather patterns and the lake’s moderate depth. During winter, the lake freezes over, and surface temperatures drop to around 0 °C (32 °F). In spring, the ice melts slowly, and the water remains cool, averaging 5–10 °C (41–50 °F). By midsummer, the surface warms to a comfortable range of 20–25 °C (68–77 °F), particularly in shallow bays and along sun-exposed shores. In autumn, as temperatures cool, the water gradually returns to 10–15 °C (50–59 °F) before ice begins forming again.
Swimming in Six Mile Lake is allowed and widely enjoyed during the warmest months, from late June through early September. The lake’s clear water and sheltered coves make it ideal for recreational swimming, canoeing, and paddleboarding. Public access points and private docks provide easy entry into the water, and the surrounding natural setting offers a peaceful environment for summer recreation. Outside the main swimming season, the lake becomes too cold for comfortable bathing, but it remains popular for fishing, kayaking, and enjoying the quiet beauty of Muskoka’s wilderness.
