Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
The Silvretta Reservoir (also known as Silvretta-Stausee) is located in the Silvretta mountain range, in the western part of Austria, near the border with Switzerland. Situated at an altitude of around 2,000 meters (6,561 feet) above sea level, the reservoir is primarily used for hydroelectric power generation. Due to its high-altitude location and the fact that it is fed by snowmelt from the surrounding mountains, the water temperature is quite cold, ranging from 5°C to 10°C (41°F to 50°F), even in the summer months.
Swimming in the Silvretta Reservoir is not a common activity due to its low water temperatures, which can be uncomfortable for most swimmers. The lake is more popular among hikers, climbers, and outdoor enthusiasts who enjoy the stunning alpine scenery, rather than for swimming. The lake's crystal-clear waters and the majestic mountains that surround it offer a scenic environment for sightseeing, photography, and other outdoor pursuits like boating or fishing, but it's advisable to avoid swimming unless you're prepared for very cold water.
