*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Gigerwaldsee is a high-mountain reservoir in the Calfeisen Valley, surrounded by steep slopes and rugged scenery. Its elevation of about 1,300 m keeps water temperatures cool throughout the year. In winter the lake is usually ice-covered, with water close to 0 °C (32 °F). After thawing in spring, temperatures typically remain around 4–7 °C (39–45 °F). During the warmest weeks of summer, mainly July and August, surface temperatures may reach roughly 10–14 °C (50–57 °F) on sunny days, before dropping quickly again in autumn to below 8 °C (46 °F).
Swimming is not officially prohibited, but it is uncommon and generally not recommended. Gigerwaldsee is used for hydropower, is deep, and the water remains cold even in midsummer. Weather changes can be sudden, and there are no designated bathing areas. As a result, only experienced cold-water swimmers might consider a brief dip, while most visitors enjoy the lake for hiking, fishing, and alpine views rather than swimming.
