** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Haidersee (Lago della Muta) is a small alpine lake in the Val Venosta/Valle di Mazia area of Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol. Because it sits at high elevation and is fed by mountain streams, its water temperatures show clear seasonal swings: in late spring (May–June) surface temperatures are commonly around 4–12 °C (39–54 °F), in summer (July–August) they typically rise to roughly 15–22 °C (59–72 °F) on warm days, and in autumn (September–October) they fall back to about 8–15 °C (46–59 °F). In winter the lake often approaches freezing and may ice over, with surface temperatures at or below 0 °C (32 °F) during cold spells.
Swimming in Haidersee is generally allowed and occasionally popular in the warmest months, but conditions differ from lowland bathing spots. The alpine setting and relatively low summer maxima mean the water stays cool even in July and August, so swimmers should be prepared for brisk temperatures and brief exposure to avoid hypothermia. There are no universal lifeguard services around the lake, and local rules or seasonal restrictions (for conservation or safety) can apply, so visitors are advised to check signage and exercise caution, especially when water is cold or the weather changes quickly.
