*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Sherbrooke Lake, located in Lunenburg County in southwestern Nova Scotia, is a large freshwater lake surrounded by forested hills and rural landscapes. The lake’s moderate depth and sheltered position allow it to warm gradually through the spring and summer months. In early spring, after the ice melts in April, surface temperatures average around 39–45°F (4–7°C). By late May and June, as air temperatures rise, the water warms to about 52–61°F (11–16°C). During midsummer, from July through August, Sherbrooke Lake typically reaches 66–73°F (19–23°C) in its shallower areas, while deeper parts remain cooler, around 60–64°F (16–18°C). By late September, the lake begins to cool again below 57°F (14°C) as fall conditions return.
Swimming in Sherbrooke Lake is allowed and quite popular during the summer season. The clear water and sandy, gently sloping shorelines make it an inviting spot for families and recreational swimmers. The lake’s temperature in midsummer is generally comfortable, allowing for extended swims and various water activities such as kayaking and paddleboarding. While the water remains cool in spring and early summer, it becomes pleasantly warm by July, offering excellent conditions through early September before temperatures drop again. Sherbrooke Lake provides one of the better freshwater swimming experiences in inland Nova Scotia.
