Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Wolfe Lake, located near the town of Harvey in southwestern New Brunswick, is a clear and tranquil freshwater lake surrounded by forest and cottages. Its moderate size and relatively shallow depth allow it to warm more quickly than many northern lakes in the province. In early spring, soon after the ice melts in April, the water remains cool, averaging around 39–45°F (4–7°C). By late May and June, as the air warms, surface temperatures rise to about 55–63°F (13–17°C). During midsummer, from July through August, Wolfe Lake typically reaches its warmest period, with surface temperatures between 68–75°F (20–24°C) near the shore and in calm bays. By late September, the lake cools again, dropping below 59°F (15°C) as autumn approaches.
Swimming in Wolfe Lake is allowed and very popular during the summer months. The lake’s sandy and gently sloping shoreline provides safe and comfortable access for families and recreational swimmers. The clear water and mild temperatures make it a pleasant spot for swimming, kayaking, and paddleboarding on warm days. Although the water can feel refreshing even in midsummer, it remains suitable for extended swims during July and August, when both air and water temperatures reach their seasonal highs, creating ideal conditions for outdoor recreation.
