*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Rush Creek Lake in Ohio experiences the typical seasonal swings of midwestern reservoirs. In winter the surface often hovers near freezing, roughly 32–40°F (0–4°C). Spring brings a steady rise as inflows and warming air push temperatures into the 40–60°F (4–15°C) range. By summer, surface water commonly reaches the mid-70s to low-80s°F (about 24–28°C), with shallow bays occasionally warming into the mid-80s (around 29°C) during heat waves; deeper parts of the lake remain noticeably cooler due to stratification. In autumn the surface cools again to roughly 50–65°F (10–18°C) as the lake overturns and loses summer warmth. These are general ranges and can vary year to year with weather, water level and local inflows.
Swimming at Rush Creek Lake is generally subject to park or reservoir rules: recreational swimming is allowed in designated areas when authorities deem water quality and conditions safe, but unregulated swimming is often discouraged. Restrictions exist mainly for safety—boat traffic, submerged hazards and the absence of lifeguards—and for health reasons, such as occasional bacterial contamination or harmful algal blooms that can make contact unsafe. Visitors are advised to check current park notices and water-quality advisories before entering the water and to use caution, flotation devices and common-sense safety practices.
