*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Pyramid Lake in Nevada is a deep, mostly open basin whose surface temperatures vary widely with the seasons. In winter the water commonly sits near freezing, roughly 34–45°F (1–7°C). Spring brings gradual warming to about 45–60°F (7–16°C) as runoff and air temperatures rise. Peak summer surface temperatures typically reach about 60–75°F (15–24°C) in sheltered, shallow areas, though deeper and wind-exposed parts remain noticeably cooler. In autumn the lake cools back toward spring values, generally falling into the 45–60°F (7–16°C) range. These figures are approximate and local conditions such as depth, wind, and recent weather can change temperatures significantly from day to day.
Swimming at Pyramid Lake is permitted, but it is not a conventional beach destination and conditions make recreational swimming different from warm, lifeguarded lakes. There are few developed swim facilities or lifeguards, shorelines are often rocky with sudden drop-offs, and the lake’s water is saline and alkaline, which can be irritating with prolonged exposure. Because temperatures can be cold even in summer and hypothermia is a real risk, swimmers should exercise caution, stay close to shore, wear protective gear if needed, and be prepared for strong winds and waves. Visitors should also follow local signage and tribal regulations for safety.
