** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
The reservoir serving Akron typically experiences strong seasonal variation in surface temperature. In winter the water is near freezing to the mid‑40s °F (about 1–7 °C), rising through spring to roughly the mid‑40s to low‑60s °F (7–16 °C) as the upper layers warm. By summer surface temperatures commonly reach the upper 60s to upper 70s °F (20–26 °C) and in sheltered, shallow areas can occasionally climb into the low‑80s °F (27–28 °C). In autumn the lake cools again, generally ranging from the 50s into the mid‑60s °F (10–18 °C) before winter turnover brings colder, more uniform conditions.
Swimming at Akron’s municipal reservoir is generally restricted. Because the lake functions as part of the public water supply and because of safety concerns — cold water, sudden drop‑offs, submerged hazards and boat traffic — authorities typically prohibit open swimming to protect water quality and reduce liability. Recreational use rules vary by site, so permitted activities such as shoreline fishing or non‑motorized boating may exist in designated areas, but for public health and reservoir protection most city reservoirs do not allow casual swimming.
