*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Pomme de Terre Lake in southwestern Missouri experiences a wide range of surface water temperatures through the year. In late winter and early spring the surface often sits around 32–50°F (0–10°C), warming in late spring to roughly 50–70°F (10–21°C). During the summer months surface temperatures commonly reach about 70–85°F (21–29°C), with the warmest conditions in July and August. As fall arrives the water cools back toward 55–70°F (13–21°C) before dropping again in winter. Deeper water stays colder year‑round, and seasonal wind, rainfall and reservoir releases can change temperatures and mixing patterns from day to day.
Swimming is generally allowed at Pomme de Terre in designated park and beach areas managed by the Corps of Engineers and state parks, which makes recreational use an expected activity. Authorities post rules and advisories where appropriate because safety considerations matter: water temperature can be shockingly cold outside summer months, shoreline and underwater hazards, sudden depth changes and fluctuating reservoir levels affect swimmer safety, and lifeguards are not always present. Visitors are advised to use marked swimming areas and heed posted warnings so that favorable summer temperatures and proper oversight make swimming safe and enjoyable.
