** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Lake Jacomo’s water temperature follows a typical Midwestern reservoir pattern, warming through spring and peaking in mid to late summer. Surface temperatures in winter commonly hover near freezing, roughly 32–40 °F (0–4 °C). During spring the lake generally warms to about 40–60 °F (4–16 °C) as air temperatures rise. In summer, surface readings often reach the 70–82 °F range (21–28 °C), with occasional heat-wave spikes a few degrees higher. By autumn the water cools again, commonly falling into a 50–70 °F band (10–21 °C). Actual temperatures vary by depth, time of day and recent weather; shallow bays warm fastest while deeper areas stay cooler, and cold fronts can quickly drop surface readings.
Lake Jacomo is not a designated swim beach and public swimming is effectively not permitted under park rules, so it’s not managed for recreational bathing. The county emphasizes boating and fishing as primary uses; absence of lifeguards, boat traffic, submerged hazards and variable water quality are among the reasons formal swimming is discouraged. People sometimes wade or enter the water at their own risk, and in winter any ice should be treated as unsafe unless officially declared solid; visitors should follow posted regulations and exercise caution around the shoreline.
