*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Stockton Lake’s surface water temperatures vary with the seasons and with depth, so swimmers usually see the warmest conditions in late summer and the coldest in winter. Typical seasonal surface ranges are roughly 33–45°F (1–7°C) in winter, about 45–65°F (7–18°C) in spring as the lake stratifies, 70–85°F (21–29°C) during the warmest weeks of summer, and 50–70°F (10–21°C) in autumn as cooling begins. Deeper water remains noticeably colder year-round and a thermocline can develop in summer, so even when the surface is comfortable the subsurface can feel chilly.
Swimming is allowed at Stockton Lake in many of the park, campground and public-access areas because the reservoir is managed for multiple recreational uses, including swimming, boating and fishing. Many designated beaches and campground shorelines are used by visitors, but lifeguards are not typically provided and conditions vary by location and season. Swimmers should choose established swimming areas, be mindful of boat traffic, and recognize that early‑season and late‑season water temperatures can pose hypothermia risks even when air temperatures seem mild.
