** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Moses Lake is a relatively shallow inland lake in central Washington whose surface temperatures vary markedly with the seasons. In winter the water typically hovers near freezing, roughly 35–45°F (2–7°C), while spring brings gradual warming into the mid-40s to low-60s °F (7–17°C). Summer is when the lake is warmest: surface readings commonly reach 70–80°F (21–27°C) on warm days and can occasionally be a few degrees higher in shallow, sheltered bays. In autumn the lake cools back down, with temperatures often falling through the 50s to 60s °F (10–18°C) as air temperatures decline. These ranges reflect surface conditions; deeper or shaded areas remain cooler.
Swimming is generally permitted in recreational areas of Moses Lake and the lake is used for swimming, boating, and water sports during the warmer months. Access and use are subject to local rules and posted signage; authorities may close beaches or discourage swimming when water-quality issues arise, such as algal blooms, high bacterial counts, or unsafe debris and boat traffic. Because the water can be cool outside midsummer, swimmers should be mindful of hypothermia risk in cold conditions and of variable underwater terrain. Checking current advisories and using designated swim areas with lifeguards or clearly marked boundaries is recommended for the safest experience.
