*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Cle Elum Lake, a mountain reservoir east of the Cascade Crest in Washington, typically has cool water year-round. In winter the surface can approach freezing, often around 33–40°F (1–4°C). Spring sees a gradual rise as snowmelt feeds the lake, with temperatures commonly in the 40–55°F range (4–13°C). Peak summer surface temperatures are usually reached in July and August, commonly between about 60–70°F (15–21°C) in open areas and occasionally edging toward the low 70s°F (≈22°C) in shallow, sun-warmed bays. As autumn advances the water cools again to roughly 45–60°F (7–16°C). Because Cle Elum is a deep, managed reservoir, colder water from depth and inflows can keep temperatures lower than smaller, shallow lakes.
Swimming at Cle Elum Lake is generally allowed in public recreation areas and at lakeside parks, but conditions make it more of a seasonal, cautious activity than casual bathing. There are no widespread lifeguard services, water levels and currents are influenced by dam operations and inflows, and the abrupt drop-offs and cooler temperatures increase risk of cold-shock and hypothermia. Boat traffic and variable weather also affect safety, so swimmers should use flotation, stay near shore, and be aware of posted rules at specific access points.
