** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Clear Lake in Washington typically has cool water through most of the year, with surface temperatures varying by season and by bay or depth. In late spring and early fall, surface temperatures are commonly in the 40–60°F range (4–15°C). At the height of summer, especially in shallow areas and during prolonged warm spells, surface readings can climb into the 60–75°F range (15–24°C), though deep or shaded spots remain appreciably colder. In winter the lake surface frequently approaches near-freezing conditions, often around 33–40°F (1–4°C) and may develop ice in especially cold years. Thermal stratification means deeper water stays colder than the surface even in summer.
Swimming is generally permitted and is a popular seasonal activity when surface temperatures are highest, but swimmers should expect brisk water and plan accordingly. Cold-water shock and rapid loss of body heat are real hazards once water is below roughly 70°F (21°C), so limiting immersion time, wearing a wetsuit, and supervising weaker swimmers are sensible precautions. Local health advisories or temporary closures can occur for algal blooms, bacterial contamination, or unsafe conditions, and many lake access points lack lifeguards, so checking current conditions and exercising standard water-safety practices is recommended before entering the water.
