*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
#Somerset
Luxhay Reservoir’s surface water follows the seasonal pattern typical of lowland reservoirs in Somerset. In winter the water commonly sits around 4–8 °C (39–46 °F), rising through spring and autumn to roughly 6–15 °C (43–59 °F) as the days warm, and reaching peak surface temperatures in summer of about 15–22 °C (59–72 °F). Deeper water remains noticeably colder year-round, so overall conditions can feel much cooler than surface readings suggest and temperatures can change quickly with weather.
Swimming at Luxhay is generally not permitted or is actively discouraged: many reservoirs are managed for water supply and public access is restricted for safety and water-quality reasons. Hidden hazards such as strong undercurrents, sudden depth changes and very cold water leading to cold-water shock, together with the absence of lifeguards, are the main reasons for restrictions. Visitors instead use the area for walking, birdwatching and enjoying the surrounding Somerset countryside; nearby attractions typically include scenic rural trails, historic villages and other outdoor recreation opportunities. Always follow local signage and landowner guidance.
