*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Lost Land Lake in Wisconsin generally follows the seasonal temperature patterns common to small inland lakes in the region. During winter the surface freezes and temperatures at the ice edge are at or just above freezing, roughly 32°F (0°C), while deeper water stays somewhat warmer, often near 39°F (4°C). In spring the surface warms from the mid-30s to mid-50s °F (about 2–13°C) as ice melts and the lake stratifies. Peak summer surface temperatures typically occur from July through August and commonly range from about 68–78°F (20–26°C), with shallow bays occasionally reaching the low 80s °F (~27–28°C) in warm years. In autumn the surface cools back down into the 50s–60s °F (10–16°C) before ice returns.
Swimming is generally possible during the ice-free months because summer surface temperatures reach comfortable ranges for recreational use, and many lakes in Wisconsin have public or private access points where swimming is practiced. However, actual permission depends on local ownership and signage, and water safety or health advisories (for example, harmful algal blooms or posted closures) can restrict swimming at times. Visitors should check local access rules, watch for posted advisories, and be mindful of cold-water risks early and late in the season as temperatures remain low.
