** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Lacul Sfânta Ana (in Romanian: Lacul Sfânta Ana) is a small volcanic crater lake in central Romania, sitting at roughly 946 m altitude. Because of its mountain setting and relatively small volume, water temperatures vary markedly with the seasons. In spring (April–May) surface temperatures are often in the range of about 4–12 °C (39–54 °F) as meltwater cools the basin. In summer (June–August) the lake can warm to roughly 12–20 °C (54–68 °F) on sunny days, though it typically remains cooler than lowland lakes. Autumn (September–November) sees temperatures fall back to roughly 6–12 °C (43–54 °F), and in winter (December–March) the lake commonly approaches freezing, around 0–4 °C (32–39 °F), with frequent ice cover during cold spells.
Swimming at Lacul Sfânta Ana is generally not permitted as part of efforts to protect the lake’s fragile ecosystem, water clarity and the surrounding protected reserve. Authorities and signage discourage bathing and aim to minimize disturbance from swimmers, pollutants and shore erosion; as a result, most visitor activity is limited to walking, sightseeing and regulated recreation around the shoreline rather than open-water swimming. Visitors should respect local rules and seasonal access restrictions to help preserve the lake’s natural character.
