*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Lacul Avram Iancu (Ocniţa), one of the salt lakes in the Ocna Sibiului complex in central Romania, has seasonal water temperatures that reflect the continental climate and the lake’s shallow, saline character. In spring the water typically ranges from about 6–15 °C (43–59 °F) as the sun begins to warm the surface. Summer temperatures are the warmest and can reach roughly 20–28 °C (68–82 °F) on sunny days, making swimming most comfortable from June to August. In autumn the lake cools to approximately 10–18 °C (50–64 °F), while winter temperatures often fall near freezing; because of the salt content the surface may resist full freezing but can be very cold, around 0–5 °C (32–41 °F) in colder spells.
Swimming in Lacul Avram Iancu is commonly possible in the warmer months and the high salinity makes floating easier and is a traditional draw for visitors seeking a recreational or reputedly therapeutic experience. Access and permitted activities, however, depend on local management and safety signage: some parts of the Ocna Sibiului complex are restricted for stability or environmental reasons, and the saline water can irritate open wounds or sensitive skin. Visitors should follow posted rules and local guidance before entering the water.
