*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Lake Pleasant, located in the Adirondack region of New York, tends to have distinctly seasonal water temperatures. In winter the surface will be at or near freezing, about 32°F (0°C), often covered by ice. During spring the lake warms slowly, roughly in the 40–60°F (4–16°C) range as snowmelt and cool air persist. Peak summer surface temperatures typically fall between about 60–75°F (15–24°C), with the warmest readings in July and August; deeper water remains cooler. By fall the lake cools again, commonly registering 45–60°F (7–16°C) depending on air temperatures and early frosts.
Swimming is generally allowed in Lake Pleasant and is a common recreational activity during the warmer months, especially from shorelines and designated beach or park areas. Authorities and local managers permit swimming because the lake is a public recreational resource, but access and safety measures vary; some sites have no lifeguards, limited facilities, or seasonal restrictions. Cold water, sudden depth changes, and variable weather can pose hazards outside midsummer, so swimmers should heed posted signs, use caution for cold-water shock, and choose supervised areas when available.
