*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Lake Moraine in New York typically experiences a wide range of water temperatures through the year. In spring the surface often runs cold as the lake thaws, roughly 34–55°F (1–13°C). Summer brings the warmest surface readings, commonly around 60–75°F (16–24°C) on sunny days, although deeper or shaded areas remain much cooler. By fall surface temperatures decline again to about 45–60°F (7–16°C) as cooling and turnover occur, and in winter the lake can approach freezing at about 32°F (0°C) where ice forms. These figures are approximate; actual temperatures vary by depth, exposure, recent weather and year-to-year conditions, and deeper water typically remains several degrees colder than the surface during warm months.
Swimming at Lake Moraine is possible in places where public access or designated swim areas exist, but whether it is allowed depends on local rules and ownership. Many lakes in the region permit swimming from shore or beaches, yet facilities may lack lifeguards and conditions can change quickly. Cold water, even in summer below the surface, poses risks of cold shock and hypothermia, so swimmers should be cautious, check posted regulations and water quality, and avoid swimming alone or where access is restricted.
