** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Lake Hubert in central Minnesota follows the familiar seasonal pattern of inland lakes in the region. In winter the lake is typically ice-covered and water temperatures near the surface sit just above freezing, around 32–36°F (0–2°C). Spring brings a steady warm-up, with surface temperatures moving through roughly 40–60°F (4–16°C). By midsummer the shallow areas and bays commonly warm to about 68–78°F (20–26°C), and during hot spells surface readings can reach the low 80s (27–28°C); deeper water stays noticeably cooler. In fall the lake cools back into the 50–60°F range (10–16°C) before ice forms again.
Swimming is generally allowed at Lake Hubert and is a common recreational activity because the lake serves local residents and visitors who use private beaches, docks, and public access points. Comfortable swimming tends to occur when surface temperatures are in the high 60s to upper 70s °F (about 20–26°C), while spring and fall waters can be brisk and increase hypothermia risk. Local health or park authorities may temporarily restrict swimming if water-quality problems such as harmful algal blooms or bacterial contamination are detected, so it’s wise to observe posted advisories before entering the water.
