*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Lake Evijärvi is a notably shallow lake in the South Ostrobothnia region, situated in the municipality of Evijärvi. Due to its shallowness, it is susceptible to rapid temperature changes and is generally known for having warmer waters in the summer compared to deeper lakes. Swimming is generally permitted along its shores and at designated public beaches, a freedom protected by Finland's Everyman’s Rights. This principle ensures the public's access to natural water bodies for recreational use. As a shallow, often nutrient-rich lake, its water quality is routinely monitored by municipal health services during the summer season, with advisories issued if any concerns, such as blue-green algae blooms, arise.
The shallow nature of Evijärvi greatly influences its temperature extremes. In the long winter, from approximately December to April, the lake is reliably covered by ice, with water temperatures below the ice layer remaining at a cold range of 0∘C to 4∘C. The ideal season for comfortable swimming is the short summer, concentrated from mid-June to mid-August, with its peak in July. During this peak month, surface temperatures typically range from 19∘C to 22∘C, often quickly exceeding the upper end of this range during heatwaves. Outside of the summer months, the water temperature is too low for casual swimming.
