*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Lake Karperöfjärden, located in Ostrobothnia near the city of Vaasa, is a shallow coastal lake that connects with nearby waterways leading toward the Gulf of Bothnia. Its low depth and sheltered position allow the water to warm quickly in summer, making it one of the more pleasant lakes in the region for swimming. In spring, after the ice melts in April or early May, the surface temperature is about 5–8 °C (41–46 °F). During early summer, it rises to 14–17 °C (57–63 °F), and in July, the warmest period, the lake typically reaches 19–22 °C (66–72 °F). On hot days, the water in shallow areas may briefly exceed 23 °C (73 °F). By September, the temperature cools below 10 °C (50 °F), and the lake generally freezes again in November.
Swimming in Lake Karperöfjärden is allowed and popular among locals, especially during sunny summer days. The water quality is generally good, though slightly affected by surrounding vegetation and sediment. Public swimming areas provide safe access, and the gently sloping shores make it suitable for families. Because of its shallow depth and relatively warm water, Karperöfjärden offers a comfortable and natural environment for swimming and outdoor recreation.
