Lake Düden (Düden Gölü), a shallow inland lake in Konya province, shows pronounced seasonal variation in surface water temperature. During winter months the water commonly falls to around 0–6 °C (32–43 °F), and spring brings a gradual rise to roughly 6–14 °C (43–57 °F). In summer, when air temperatures are highest, surface temperatures often reach about 18–26 °C (64–79 °F) in warm spells, while autumn cooling typically produces values near 8–16 °C (46–61 °F). These figures are approximate: actual temperatures vary with seasonal rainfall, evaporation, wind and the lake’s shallow depth, which causes faster warming and cooling than deeper lakes.
Swimming at Düden Gölü is generally not recommended and in many areas is effectively prohibited because the lake functions as an important wetland and bird habitat, with protected status during parts of the year to safeguard nesting and migratory species.
