** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Laguna Salada de la Mata is a shallow, hypersaline lagoon in the Valencian region whose water temperatures vary notably with the seasons because of its low depth and Mediterranean climate. In winter the surface temperature typically falls to about 8–14 °C (46–57 °F), spring sees a gradual rise to roughly 12–20 °C (54–68 °F), summer warming often brings waters to around 20–30 °C (68–86 °F), and autumn generally cools to about 16–24 °C (61–75 °F). Evaporation in the hottest months can increase salinity and surface temperatures locally, while cooler, wetter periods lower both temperature and salt concentration.
Swimming in Laguna Salada de la Mata is generally not permitted because the area is part of a protected wetland system important for migratory birds and biodiversity, and conservation rules and signage usually discourage or legally restrict bathing. High salinity and variable water quality can also make prolonged immersion uncomfortable or irritating to skin and eyes. Although people occasionally enter the water informally, official guidance is to respect the reserve regulations and avoid swimming to protect wildlife and to prevent disturbance or potential health issues.
