** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Lago di Canterno is a relatively small, shallow lake in Lazio whose water temperatures fluctuate substantially with the seasons because of its limited depth and sheltered basin. Typical winter temperatures are low, often around 4–8 °C (39–46 °F), while spring brings a steady rise into the 8–18 °C (46–64 °F) range. In the warmest months the surface can warm to roughly 20–26 °C (68–79 °F), though shallow spots and sunny days can push localized surface readings a few degrees higher. Autumn sees a progressive cooling back into the 10–18 °C (50–64 °F) band as air temperatures fall and mixing increases.
Swimming at Lago di Canterno is generally discouraged and in many parts effectively not permitted because the lake lies within a protected natural area and supports sensitive aquatic habitats and birdlife. Restrictions are intended to limit disturbance, prevent pollution and protect water quality and vegetation that are important for local biodiversity. Even where bathing might seem feasible, visitors should check local signage and rules; the lake is better known for passive recreation such as walking, wildlife observation and enjoying the shoreline rather than regular open-water swimming.
