*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Ibón de Sabocos is a high‑mountain lake in the Spanish Pyrenees whose waters remain cold year‑round because they are largely fed by snowmelt and sit at altitude. Seasonal surface temperatures in winter are at or below 0 °C (32 °F) when the lake is frozen or partially ice‑covered. In spring and autumn, temperatures typically range from about 1–6 °C (34–43 °F) as melting and cooling influence the water. During the warmest summer weeks, surface readings can rise to roughly 6–14 °C (43–57 °F), with occasional warm spells pushing local surface spots toward 15 °C (59 °F), but the lake is still far colder than lowland bathing waters.
Swimming at Ibón de Sabocos is not a common recreational activity and is generally discouraged for safety and environmental reasons. There is no widespread infrastructure—no lifeguards, no marked bathing areas—and the very low temperatures raise a significant hypothermia risk even after short immersion. In addition, many high mountain ibones lie within sensitive natural areas where visitors are asked to minimize disturbance; local regulations or signage may restrict bathing, so visitors should check on‑site rules. A brief dip is occasionally attempted by experienced, prepared visitors, but prolonged swimming is neither comfortable nor advisable for most people.
