** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Henry Hagg Lake is a large reservoir in northwest Oregon whose surface water temperatures change noticeably with the seasons. In winter the surface commonly runs about 40–48°F (4–9°C), while spring typically warms it into the mid 40s to around 60°F (7–16°C) as air temperatures rise. Summer surface readings frequently sit in the 60–75°F range (16–24°C) on typical warm days and can reach near 80°F (about 27°C) in heat waves, though deeper water remains much colder. In autumn the lake cools back toward roughly 50–60°F (10–16°C). These are general surface ranges; actual temperatures vary by weather, time of day, and depth, and colder layers persist below the surface year-round.
Swimming is generally permitted at Hagg Lake, but it is done at visitors’ own risk because there are no lifeguards on duty and hazards exist. Cold water, sudden drop-offs, submerged structure, and boat traffic can create dangerous conditions, and even in summer the deeper, colder water poses a risk of cold-water shock or hypothermia. Visitors are advised to follow posted rules, use flotation if needed, stay near shore, and consider water temperature and activity level before entering.
