*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
The Embalse de El Atance, in Castilla–La Mancha, is a medium-sized reservoir whose surface temperatures vary strongly with the seasons. In winter the water typically chills to around 4–8 °C (39–46 °F), while spring sees a gradual rise into the 10–18 °C (50–64 °F) range as the sun warms shallower zones. Summer surface temperatures commonly reach 20–26 °C (68–79 °F), and during heat spells sheltered shallows can climb toward 27–28 °C (80–82 °F). In autumn the lake cools again, with surface readings often between 12 and 18 °C (54–64 °F). These are general seasonal patterns: deeper water remains colder year-round and wind or inflows can produce localized variability in temperature and clarity.
Swimming is physically possible in El Atance during the warmer months, but it is subject to local rules and practical considerations. Because the reservoir is part of regional water management and may serve irrigation or supply functions, bathing is sometimes officially restricted to protect water quality and for safety reasons; there are also no lifeguards and access points can be rocky or steep. Many visitors nevertheless swim informally when conditions are warm, preferring sheltered, shallow areas that heat up faster. Before entering the water it is advisable to check posted notices or municipal guidance, both for legal permission and to be aware of water quality and safety conditions.
