** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Deam Lake is a small reservoir in southern Indiana whose surface temperatures vary markedly with the seasons. In winter the lake commonly hovers around freezing, roughly 32–40°F (0–4°C). Spring brings a steady warming as runoff and air temperatures lift the surface into the 40–60°F range (4–16°C). By summer the surface typically reaches its highest values, often about 68–80°F (20–27°C) on warm days, though localized highs can be a few degrees warmer in shallow, sun-exposed bays. In autumn the water cools again, generally settling between about 50–65°F (10–18°C). Temperature profiles also vary by depth and by weather: warm, calm stretches produce a warm surface layer while deeper water stays markedly cooler.
Swimming at Deam Lake is not permitted; there is no designated public beach and park regulations prohibit swimming for safety and management reasons. The combination of steep drop-offs, underwater obstacles, variable water quality and the presence of recreational fishing and boating contributes to that restriction, and lifeguards are not provided. Visitors looking to cool off or enjoy water recreation typically use small craft, fishing, or visit other nearby sites with supervised swimming areas. Always check current park rules and posted signs before entering any body of water.
