*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
#Kent
Bough Beech Reservoir in Kent is primarily a working drinking-water reservoir and nature reserve, so its waters tend to be cool year-round. Typical surface temperatures range from about 4–8 °C (39–46 °F) in winter, rise to roughly 8–14 °C (46–57 °F) through spring and autumn, and reach around 15–22 °C (59–72 °F) at the warmest points in summer. Because it is relatively deep and shaded in places, even summer temperatures are often lower than in open recreational lakes, and thermal layers can create cold pockets below the surface.
Swimming at Bough Beech is not permitted due to its role as a drinking-water source, safety concerns such as submerged hazards and cold-water shock, and the need to protect birdlife and habitat. Visitors instead enjoy walking, birdwatching and the reserve’s hides. Nearby attractions include Hever Castle, Penshurst Place and the historic parks of Sevenoaks, along with countryside walks in the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, offering plenty of alternatives for outdoor recreation.
