** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
The Embalse de Almendra, a large reservoir on the Tormes River in Castile and León, shows clear seasonal variation in water temperature. In summer the surface typically warms to around 22–26 °C (72–79 °F), while spring and autumn temperatures are usually in the 12–18 °C (54–64 °F) range. In winter the surface often falls to about 4–8 °C (39–46 °F). Like many deep reservoirs, Almendra is thermally stratified: surface layers warm significantly in summer while deeper water remains much colder year-round, so measured temperatures depend strongly on depth and exposure to sun and wind.
Swimming around the Embalse de Almendra is practiced by visitors but is not uniformly regulated as a formal bathing area; some coves are used for recreation while large stretches are primarily managed for hydroelectric and water-storage functions. Local rules, safety considerations and the absence of lifeguards mean swimming is allowed in many places but can be risky due to sudden depth changes, submerged structures, cold deep water and boat traffic. Visitors are advised to follow signage, use sheltered spots, and be cautious of temperature differences that can cause cold-water shock, especially outside the warm summer months.
